...Nnabuife calls for inclusive policy

JOURNALISTS plying their trade in Anambra State are set to honour Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation (ANPC), Chuka Nnabuife.

The ceremony which is scheduled to hold under the aegis of Anambra State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) will draw big players of the pen profession, socialites, political office holders and policy makers.

Dropping the hints during a courtesy call on ANPC pemises, on Tuesday, the newly elected chairman of Anambra State Chapter of NUJ, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu said his association is organising the event not only as its little way of immortalising Sir Chuka for his strident contributions in journalism practice and training but also to encourage other leading lights in the media to emulate him.

Describing him as “a doyen of mass communication, arts, entertainment and administrator par excellence, who have positively touched many Igbo journalists’ lives in both Lagos and Anambra States,” Odogwu said NUJ will spare nothing to paint the town red in giving honour to “Sir Chuka Nnabuife, who we looked far into the field of media administrators in the state before coming up with his choice.”

Odogwu also disclosed that part of the association’s token to immortalise Sir Chuka includes “naming a hall after him at NUJ Press Centre in Awka, because we’re not sparing anything to recommend this sterling journalist and art collector of our time for his contributions and efforts to humanity.”

Earlier while welcoming the team, Sir Chuka congratulated them on their new elections as officials of NUJ in Anambra State and urged them to key into the silent revolution breezing across the state under the Gov. Willie Obiano-led administration.

Nnabuife also commended Odogwu and his team for finding him worthy of recognition and honour. He, therefore, promised to keep the light aflame in  Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation (ANPC) by continuing the massive transformation going on in its traditional stable, National Light and the two new stables that have become darlings of news vendors and newspaper readers.

Speaking while joining Nnabuife to receive Odogwu and his delegation, Editor of National Light, Ka O Di taa and SportslightXTRA newspapers, Mrs. Rose Oranye, assured them of the corporation’s maximum support.

She also reminded the team of the need to continue reaching out as the new state executives, adding that only so doing will relaunch the association to its deserved place of pride.

Also in his vote of thanks, Treasurer of NUJ, Anambra State Council, Comrade Ozoemena Ogemdi thanked Nnabuife and his management team for their warm gesture and promised that NUJ would always attend to their calls whenever  need be.

In a related development, Nnabuife urged the State Working Committee (SWC), Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Anambra State Council to ensure they carry everyone along without sentiment.

He gave the advice while reminding the newly elected officials that success in any organisation comes  by working in togetherness, love and unionism.

According to Nnabuife,  even before Odogwu emerged as chairman, he had shown the gift of leadership, innovative ideas as well as ability to carry everyone together both in journalism and otherwise, expressing his confidence that “Odogwu can make a very big tag team.”
