A Federal High Court, sitting in Awka, Anambra State, has sentenced a middle-aged man, one Ogbodo Friday to seven years imprisonment for adulterating and circulating fake drugs in Onitsha.

Explaining that Friday has no option of fine, while handing down the sentence yesterday, Justice H.A. Nganjiwa said only such penalty would adequately correct the convict for endangering lives of innocent consumers of the drugs he adulterate to make money.

Friday’s sentence came after he was convicted on a two-count charge bordering on possession of fake maldox (sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine) and packaging of Emzor paracetamol in a manner that is misleading over which he was arraigned on  January 26 before Justice Nganjiwa.
