Nollywod bears my father’s footprints – Natty’s son, Chukwuma

LATE New Masquerade legend, Romanus Amuta popularly known as Natty’s first child, Chukwuma Amuta has described his father as one of the pioneer veteran artistes that did necessary spade works that brought Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood, to its present position of pride.

  Amuta stated this while fielding questions with newsmen on the life and times of his father.

  Describing Natty as a caring father who did his best to raise his children in the best ways, Amuta also said his father paid his due to the country through his cameos and premieres in movie entertainment that spanned over three decades, beginning with popular 1980s soap, New Masquerade.

  It will be recalled that news of Natty’s death at 79 was agog on media outlets on Monday.

  Confirming the reports, Amuta said his father died in a Lagos hospital after a protracted ailment.

  “Yes! My father died on Monday in Lagos after a protracted illness. He’s a caring father who did his best to raise us in godly way, and he paid his dues to Nigeria through the entertainment industry. My father was among those that tended Nollywood to become what it is today, and we’re proud of that,” he said.

  Natty is survived by his wife, Cordelia and six children.

  It will be recalled that in 2014, news of Natty, an indigene of Ukana in Udi LGA of Enugu State’s death went viral but he debunked it, revealing that Ibinabo Fiberesima and other colleagues donated funds for his treatment.
