AWKA South Voters Forum (ASVF), a non-governmental and non-profit making organisation has empowered grassroots women as part of their activities to mark the 2022 annual event celebration with the theme “Where Are We Going”.
The event was held at the Elites International School, Umuike Village, Awka, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, with over 80 women and children in attendance.
ASUF aims at sensitising the populace on the need to exercise their franchise during elections, and the attitude of mortgaging their conscience by collecting money to vote for candidates,
Speaking at the event, the Programme Coordinator, ASVF, Comrade Obinna Udeora, said the primary objective of the event was to create awareness and pass some level of Information to the grassroots women on the dangers of voter apathy and how to vote wisely during the election as well as educate them on the best and proactive ways to prevent them.
Mr. Udeora maintained that the charitable organisation, among other things, attends to people’s needs; attending to the sick as much as they can, pay school fees and the organisation is gradually moving beyond Awka South Local Government Area.
In his speech, the secretary to the organisation, Mr. Kenneth Ezulike, advised the participants to put into practice what they learned and to relay the information to others that were not able to come.
The General Director, ASVF, Ozo Jude Agummadu, described the event as worth-while and encouraged members to play a greater role in driving the organisation’s goal for a better society, promising a much better outing in the future.
One of the participants, Mrs Joy Nwachukwu, appreciated the organisation for their kind gesture both material and other wise, while urging her fellow participants to put into practice the teachings.
She promised to take the information back home, making sure that there will be difference and prayed to God, for his mercies over the organisers.
