GOVERNOR of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has explained the success recorded in the health sector as a product of his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and welfare of both patients and healthcare officials.

Gov. Obiano stated this while speaking during the commissioning of a model comprehensive medical centre in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area.

Reiterating his administration devotion to affordable and functional healthcare, Gov. Obiano explained that his policy on health is hinged on three prongs: infrastructure, welfare of patients and welfare of health officials, to equip primary healthcentres across the state with necessary machinery they hitherto lacked.

The governor, therefore, expressed satisfaction that through such interventions, 502 primary healthcentres were equipped, Keke ambulances procured and flagship health insurance under aegis of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) among others.

The governor also used the opportunity to call on well-to-do Awkuzu people to enroll their people into ASHIA, and commended them for the initiative of upgrading the medical facility in line with his akulueuno think-home development clarion call.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, his Works counterpart, Marcel Ifejiofor, Emeritus Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa, Traditional Ruler of Awkuzu, Igwe Charles Anikweze among others attended the ceremony.
