Nri monarch calls for reintroduction of history in school

TRADITIONAL ruler of Nri Kingdom in Anaocha Local Government Area, Eze Obidiegwu Onyesoh, has lent his voice to the call for History to be returned as a subject in schools across the country.

  The king, who made the call recently through the Regent of Nri, Prince Ikenna Onyesoh at the 1023rd Iguaro ndigbo which is the proclamation of the Igbo New Year, and 34th anniversary of  his ascension to the throne said it is important for government to have a rethink and bring back the study of history as it will help solve some of the problems we face today as a nation.

  “Today, government systematically suspended the teaching of history in our schools, thus depriving the present generation the rights of knowing the history of their past. I call on government to reverse this negative trend as it poses a danger to our existence.”

  He stated further that those who ignore the past tend to step on the future thereby failing altogether.

  Eze Obidiegwu congratulated the governor-elect of Anambra State, Charles Soludo while he urged ndi Anambra to support the incoming government to better the lots of Anambra State.

  He prayed for peace across Nigeria and the South-East and an end to the incessant killings and violence being recorded across the region.
