Quantity surveyors visit Anambra Stadium

ANAMBRA State Director for Sports, Tony Oli, has said that Anambra Sports Stadium is one of the legacy projects of Chief Willie Obiano and given to ndiAnambra and beyond.

  Mr. Oli said this when the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors,  Anambra Chapter, visited him at the sports stadium in Awka, where he also announced that everything in the stadium is according to world standard and compared the pitch to be the same measurement with that of Barcelona of Spain.

  Chairman, Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyor, Anambra Chapter, and a lecturer at Federal Polytechnic Oko, Chiedu Mmadueke said this kind of exercise is normally carried out once in a while to look at the projects that are on-going within the state helps to make the progression tone visible, and it’s an avenue to do some professional development, to see things and learn things on ground.

  The Deputy Chairman, Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Anambra Chapter and a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Emma Nwobu, reiterated that when you have procured the contract and given the job, the quantity surveyor ought to be on the side of the government to help them in the cost control, project monitoring and implementation which is project administration.  

The Quantity Surveyor ought to be a consultant or a very senior QS in the ministry, who will be helping the ministry to see that cost is being controlled to ensure that there is not cost overrun so that at the end of the day, both time, cost, quality is maintained and project delivered. This, the government and ministry did not do and we condemned it in its entirety that we find it so difficult why a QS will be Idle.

  Professor of Cost and Quantity, Nnamdi Azikiwe University,Awka, Chika Ajato, thanked the director for his patience and enlightenment and  said that their coming is more or less a morale booster to all.
