Mothers’ Sunday: Archbishop Ibezim’s wife urges women to be prayerful

WIFE of the Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Martha Ibezim has urged mothers to equip themselves with prayer and word of God.

  Mrs Ibezim said this on Sunday at St Mary’s Church Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area as the Anglican women joined their counterparts around the world to mark ‘Mothers’ Sunday.’

  Speaking on the theme “Be Strong in the Lord and in the Power of His Might”, the wife of the bishop said that women have great roles to play in the society, church, homes and the nation at large.

  She encouraged women to live a prayerful life while trusting and believing God in all things.

Mrs Ibezim expressed worry at the rate of moral decadence in the society, advising mothers to sit up in the training of their children so as to preserve generation.

  “Children are the future hope of the nation so they should be nurtured properly by inculcating good morals, values and fear of God in them.

  “Have time for your children to know their challenges, pray and study the Bible with them to enhance their spiritual growth,” she said.

  Mrs Ibezim while praising them for their motherly roles in the society, wished the women a successful 2022 mothers’ day celebrations.

  She advised them never to give the devil a chance in the training of their children, urging them to love their husbands with all their hearts as demanded by God.

  “As soldiers of Christ you should be ready for warfare which comes from all corners. Do not trust in your own strength but on God in whose strength you shall prevail.

  Cutting of mothers’ cake and fund raising added glamour to the celebration.
