HOS tasks workers on effective service delivery



  Kicks-off ministerial tour

ANAMBRA State Head of Service, Okwy Igwegbe  has charged the state workers on effective service delivery as she commenced tour of all the ministries in the state.

  The tour which commenced yesterday was for familiarisation and acquaintance with both principal officers and other staff of the various ministries.

  Mrs. Igwegbe while speaking at the Ministry of Justice which was her first port of call acknowledged the ministry as her mother ministry which informed her decision to kick off the tour with them.

  Addressing the civil servants, she highlighted punctuality, responsiveness, timeliness as prerequisites for effective service delivery.

  “The civil servants must have these three (3) key factors at the back of their minds. First is noting the key activities and ensuring that they are done, secondly, working towards the expected deliverables and thirdly being conscious of the fact that assignments are time bound.”

  The HOS used the opportunity to advise workers to always discharge their duties professionally in ways which would contribute positively to the general framework of the present administration.

  The civil service boss admonished the workers to always carry themselves with high esteem bearing in mind that civil service is equally highly reputable.

  Igwegbe reminded the civil servants that the governor of the state, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo has said he will run a technological-driven administration. As such, the public service will also become digitised in line with the governor’s vision and the provisions of the new public service rules.

  She then promised that ICT training will be embarked on and workers will be helped to become owners of laptops at subsidised rates.

  The foregoing charge and admonition was replicated and passed on the staff of the Ministry of Basic Education, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budgeting and Ministry of Agriculture which were among those visited on the opening day of the tour.

  Responding for their various ministries, the Anambra State Solicitor-General and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Ngozi Iwuno at the Ministry of Justice thanked the Head of Service for making out time to pay them such laudable visit.

  She praised the determination with which the HOS goes about ensuring that civil servants key into the program of the state government with the drive to ensuring efficiency in the service.

  On her part, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic Education, Nwando Obiano in her remark thanked the HOS for bringing out time to carry on with the familiarisation tour, noting that this was the first of its kind.

  She then promised on behalf of the staff of the Ministry of Basic Education to imbibe all that the HOS had taught civil servants, noting that the visit could easily pass for a training section and capacity building meeting summarised in record time.

  Also, the Program Director of ADP, Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Jude Nwankwo prayed for more strength, peace and wisdom for the HOS as she leads the civil service of Anambra State with pragmatic examples worthy of emulation.

  Among the entourage of the Head of Service during the tour were the Permanent Secretary of Establishment, Pension and Management Services office of the HOS, Mrs. Carol Njaka, and other Heads of Department in the office of the Head of Service.
