A 107-year-old woman named Furera Abubakar and her grandson, Isah Hassan, 17, have allegedly plucked out a 12-year-old boy, Mustapha Yunus’s eye in Kano.
Addressing Chief Magistrate Muhammad Jibril while arraigning the two defendants on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and attempting to commit culpable homicide, yesterday, prosecution counsel, Lamido Soron-Dinki said the duo committed the offence in Rimin Hamza Quarters, Tarauni Local Government Area.

The offences contravened sections 97 and 229 of the Penal Code.
According to Soron-Dinki, Hassan was ordered to bring a human eye to be used in preparing an “appear and disappear” charm by the second defendant.
This spurred him to deceive and lure Yunus to a nearby stream and plucked out his right eye with a sharp knife.
The plea of the defendants was, however, not taken but they were remanded in Kano Correctional Centre by Jibril who adjourned the matter until April 11 for further mention.
