Youth devp: Commissioner mulls technical team

ANAMBRA State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Agha Mba has said that a technical team will be set up to articulate comprehensive work plan for youth oriented programmes in the state.

  He explained that the team would be guided by the manifesto of the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo and provisions of the state Vision 2070 document as it affects youth development.

  Addressing a Coalition of Youth Organisations on a welcome visit to his new office, he expressed optimism that the team would fashion out how best to drive government agenda for the youths so as to achieve desired effect.

  The commissioner added he was willing to partner UNICEF, non-governmental organisations and related bodies for support services in touching the lives of youths across the state.

  According to him,government will take programmes back to communities across the state, and plans underway to embark on needs assessment tour of all the local government areas with relevant stakeholders.

  While pledging to run an open door administration, he urged youths to assist government to realise its vision as goal remained to produce a new socio order and prosperous society within a limited time.

  In their separate speeches, representatives of youth organisations including Ohaneze Youths, Mr Onyechika Eweh, Association of Town Union Youths(ASATU), Nkwado Onwualu, assured of their readiness to support him to succeed in his new assignment.

  Mr Osita Ozalagba, President, Association of South East Town Union (ASETU), described the commissioner as a tested and trusted administrator who has passion for youth affairs, noting that he has the capacity to achieve result.

  Earlier, the permanent secretary in the ministry, Mrs Louisa Ezeanya, on behalf of the staff, assured of the needed cooperation, commitment and support to drive government policies and programmes.
