ANAMBRA State Commissioner for Health, Afam Obidike says the ministry is seeking partnership with Innoson Automobile and Okwuosa Foundation to improve the healthcare sector in the state.

Dr. Obidike noted that the move was in-line with Gov. Charles Soludo’s vision of placing the state in the world map of medical exploits, as well as to be the number one in medical tourism in the country.

According to him, efforts are being made for a radical turnaround in the health sector of the state.

The commissioner who was on an inspection of the Innoson Automobile Factory in Nnewi, said, “What prompted our visit to the company is for us to access the ambulance vehicular model intended to be used by the state for the first phase of the state’s Mobile Clinic Programme.

“Four major cities in the state will have these mobile clinics stationed in strategic positions so as to ensure prompt response to emergencies and effective healthcare delivery,” he said.

The commissioner was received by the Chief Executive Officer, Innoson Automobile, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, who took him round the facility.

At the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital, Oraifite, bankrolled by Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation, Dr Obidike commended Sir Okwuosa for the hospital, which he said is for the benefit of his people.

He explained that the visit gave him the opportunity to discuss how the government could secure a public-private partnership with the foundation in the state’s healthcare sector.

“The partnership, if secured, will help to brighten the vision of Gov. Soludo’s effort of providing ndi Anambra with quality, efficient and affordable healthcare, especially to rural dwellers in the state.

“We must thank the Chairman of the foundation, Sir Okwuosa for his numerous contributions in bringing quality healthcare to the door step of people of Oraifite and its environs.”
