Anambra to partner ITF, others on youth devp

ANAMBRA State Government says it will partner the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and related institutions to equip youths with skills for economic sustainability.

  This was contained in an address presented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha-Mba, during the graduation ceremony of skill acquisition trainees of ITF, in Awka.

  The commissioner, who lauded the institution for considering trainees worthy to benefit from the programme said government would work with it to achieve the set agenda for youth empowerment.

  “Our collective goal is to create business owners that will also help to develop others. Therefore, there is a need for a collaborative team since we are pursuing the same goal.

  “ITF surely remains an enduring partner we will work together at all times. Therefore, be assured of our commitment to the success of your programmes.”

  While encouraging the beneficiaries to swing into action immediately, he identified consistency, commitment, perseverance and patience as some of the qualities needed to record success stories in running businesses.

  He, then, expressed optimism that within the next two years, they would become successful entrepreneurs, contributing their quota to economic growth and job creation.

  While thanking Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for considering him worthy to pilot the affairs of the ministry, the commissioner called for sustained collaborative teamwork and linkages with stakeholders to tackle challenges facing young people.

  He outlined strategic lines of action developed by him within short period of assumption of duty to include value re-orientation, structured vocation training, apprenticeship, talent hunt, cooperative and data collection.

  According to him, emphasis would also be laid on e-Commerce, creative media, entertainment and agriculture based on need assessment.
