Anambra’ll be best in health care delivery – – Commissioner

ANAMBRA State will soon become Nigeria’s best destination for health care.

  The Commissioner for Health, Afam Obike stated this when he made his familiarisation visit to the Oraifite General Hospital in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.

Dr. Obike commended Orafite people for their selfless support to the  hospital by getting facilities for the hospital stating that the town’s hospital management model would be used for the general hospitals in the state where people can come to assist the government as the state is poised the for best health care delivery system in the country.

“We are engaging the Oraifite model, while the government will do her part. We have a passionate Governor who wants the Anambra health sector as the best in Nigeria.”

”The visit will help the state government conduct gap analysis, identify the challenges, and offer an immediate solution because we want to ensure universal health coverage.

This means everyone in the state, however their location and financial status have access to health care.”

”By next month, Anambra State will introduce telemedicine. It offers everyone in the state the opportunity to consult and book an appointment with a doctor anywhere in the world. Anambra will be the first state in Nigeria to achieve that.”

 The commissioner thanked the traditional ruler of Oraifite, HRM Igwe Dan Udorji for his support to Dr. Innocent Umeakunne, the Chief Medical Director, Oraifite General Hospital for the tremendous improvements recorded by the hospital in a short while.

Earlier in his remarks, Dr. Umeakunne, appreciating the effort of the Oraifite people for the various contributions and donations to the hospital said the hospital has been partnering with the  government to make sure that the health care system in Anambra is improved.”

”The right people have come into the health system and we are about to witness a positive change because they say we shall know them by their fruit. Anambra is going to be okay health-wise,” he said.

HRM, Igwe Dan Udorji assured the commissioner of the town’s willingness to improve and protect facilities at the hospital.

 ”In no distant time, the hospital will witness a great transformation. Health like every other thing is more appreciated and helpful when it starts from the grassroots. The best is yet to come.”

In his vote of thanks, the first Vice President, Oraifite Improvement Union (OIU), Edmund Ugwuezumba assures that anything that comes from the government to Oraifite will be properly utilized to benefit the people.
