Killings, destruction of properties harm Igbo interest – Soludo

GOVERNOR of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has described the recent trend of killings and destruction of public and private properties in parts of South East zone as harmful to collective Igbo interest.

  Prof. Soludo stated this yesterday, through Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, who represented him in a visit to Chukwuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Awka, where one of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) operatives who recently survived unknown gunmen’s attack along Igboukwu – Uga Road is receiving medical treatment.

  Underscoring importance of dialogue over violence in solving both real and perceived wrongdoing, he advised those hiding under agitation for self-determination to perpetrate killings and destruction of properties to borrow new leaf or risk sending Igbo land into irreversible political and economic backwardness.

  Earlier while taking the team round, Chief Medical Director of COOUTH, Dr. Joe Akabuike expressed gratitude to God for saving the patient’s life despite the magnitude of the gunshot he received from the bandits.

  Also speaking, Commander of Anambra State Sector of FRSC, Adeoye Irelewuyi pledged his men’s determination to keep carrying out their duties without fear or intimidation.

Commending the team’s visit as an uncommon act of human kindness, the victim, Okechukwu Egwu expressed his confidence to get well soon and resume with his duties.
