Makinde, others, felicitate Muslims on Eid-El-Fitri



GOVERNOR Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has felicitated the Muslim Ummah in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitri festivity, calling on them to sustain prayers for the state and its leaders.

  The governor, who congratulated Muslim faithful on witnessing the end of the Ramadan, prayed that Allah would accept their worship and keep them all alive and healthy to witness the next Ramadan.

  The governor opined that though the Ramadan season is over, Muslim faithful must continue to practice the lessons that the Holy Month taught us all by remaining close to Allah and denying the self in submission to His will.

  The governor equally called on residents of the state to continue to pray for his government and to support its programmes and policies, which are geared towards repositioning the state.

  He said: “I also want to charge them that though the Ramadan is over, their commitment to the ideals of prayers, selflessness and service should not wane as these are values that can make our society a better place.

  “Please, do not relent in your prayers for Oyo State and its leadership and your support for our administration. “We believe that it is in doing these that we all can derive joy and bring about a better Oyo State.”

  Also, Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adebo Ogundoyin has congratulated Muslims across the country on the completion of the 2022 Ramadan.

  The Speaker said in spite of the socio-economic situation of the country, Nigerian Muslims still engaged in a series of spiritual and soul-lifting activities during the blessed month of Ramadan.

  This, he noted, was a clear indication that Nigerians had not despaired and that they still believe in the efficacy of prayers.

  “With this act of devotional sacrifice, spiritual uplift and prayers, one is convinced and hopeful of a prayer answered and a better tomorrow for our dear nation. I am happy that many Muslims just like their Christian counterparts who also just concluded 40 days of lent raised their voices in supplications day and night to Almighty Allah, seeking redemption, breakthrough and victory for Nigeria over all forms of trials, tribulations and above all freedom from the shackles of bad leaders, ethnoreligious conflicts, embezzlement, corruption and insecurities,” Ogundoyin said.

  He called for the sustenance of the present tempo of spirituality and Godliness amongst Nigerian Muslims and Christians and stressed the need for the teachings of all the faiths to reflect in our day-to-day interactions and relationship with ourselves.

  In another development, the spiritual head, Shafaudeen in Islam worldwide, Prof Sabit Ariyo Olagoke has urged parents to ensure proper upbringing of their wards as a way to address the current insecurity challenges in the country.

  Prof Olagoke in a Sallah message to felicitate Muslims on the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fast, also admonished the adherents of Islam to imbibe and put into practice all the lessons learnt during the period in their daily affairs.

  He said, parents are expected to work together on the physiological needs of their children for even growth and development.

  He said this becomes imperative for the adolescent to have sound home training so that he/she would not be bought over by bad and poor influence of the environment
