Buhari visits Ebonyi today



Group urges Kanu’s release, S’East presidency

AHEAD of President Muhammadu Buhari’s one-day visit to Ebonyi State, today, the leadership of Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has called for the president’s intervention in the trial of IPoB leader, Nnamdi Kanu in order to secure his release.

  The group also urged President Buhari to support an Igbo from South East Zone to emerge as the next president during the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.

  A factional leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu, presented the two-point demand in communiqué issued by the group after an emergency meeting in Abakaliki, yesterday.

  “While MASSOB acknowledges President Muhammadu Buhari’s right to visit Ebonyi or any other state, we are however just making  these two major demands as part of our own contribution to peace as being clamoured by well-meaning citizens. And, so we make the following demands: that continuous detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in DSS custody will only worsen the security challenges facing the country, it will also continue to affect the economy. MASSOB also demand that President Buhari to support an Igbo of South East extraction to become next president of Nigeria,” the communiqué reads in part.
