PEOPLES Democratic Party (PDP) has made it categorically clear that Nigeria is now a beggar nation judging from her current socio-economic and political woes.

That was the crux of the matter at Hollywood Event Centre, Awka, when Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State outlined several cogent reasons Anambra State PDP and the entire citizenry should support his presidential ambition to redeem the dented image of Nigeria once known as the giant of Africa.

The Bauchi State Governor, who brought his presidential campaign to Anambra State said Nigeria is currently indebted to China and other countries of the world; that Nigeria is taking so much loans and the loans are not deployed to the benefit of Nigerians across the country.

Gov. Mohammed also noted that all the states, including the federal government are struggling with poorer nations to get aids and grants from   America and the rest of the world, adding that the current status quo is not the profile of the Nigeria that was handed over to the present day Nigerians by the first republic politicians.

He said Nigeria used to be the big brother of the African continent. That Nigeria secured the independence of Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa and was taking care of the needs of her neighbours and was also respected globally and regarded as the number one investment destination in the African continent.

But he however, expressed worry that currently, attention has been shifted to Ghana because the world has lost trust in Nigeria and Nigerians, according to him, are divided and the division is as a result of maladministration, injustice, insecurity, nepotism and exclusion.

Mohammed said he wants to be the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to address all the negative factors militating against the progress and development of the country. He said he has benefitted from all sections of Nigeria by virtue of his career progression and believes very strongly that his reign would restore the Nigeria handed down by the first republic politicians.

Meanwhile a member of the National Executive Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Okay Muoaroh corroborated what the presidential aspirant said, confirming that Nigeria has indeed become a beggar nation.

The PDP stalwart maintained that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has destroyed Nigeria and Nigeria, according to him, is now a beggar nation. He said there is no need running away from the truth that Nigeria is now the poverty capital of the world and that only PDP can rebuild the country again.
