OVER 200 children were immunised against Polio in Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area by members of Rotary International, over the weekend.
The event took place in Okpuno Health Centre.
Addressing the mothers, Rotarian Mehta, represented by past District Governor, Abdul Hamid, said they were happy that Nigeria is Polio free but efforts should be intensified to make sure it did not come back into the country as according to him, there is fear that Polio has returned in two Asian countries.
Mehta also stressed the need for mothers to ensure that Polio is permanently eradicated in Nigeria by immunising their children whenever the opportunity calls.
On his part, Rotarian Okey Okonkwo solicited all hands to be on deck in order to ensure that Polio does not come back to Nigeria, by availing their children the opportunity to be immunised.
