Pope, Abegurin, urge Christians to listen

THE Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis, has admonished humanity to listen to other people’s views at all times to halt crisis.

  The content of the Pope’s message was relayed to the faithful by the Catholic Archbishop of Ibadan, His Grace Gabriel Abegunri during the 2022 World Communications Day with the theme “Listening with the ear of the heart”.

  He opined that communication does not take place if listening has not taken, adding that listening is an indispensable ingredient of dialogue and good communication

  The Pope decried the universal upheavals that had prevented people from worshipping God in its through sense.

  In his homily at St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, Oke-Padi, Ibadan, to mark the event organised by the Directorate of Social Communications, Catholic Archbishop of Ibadan, Most Rev. Gabriel Abegunrin underscored the importance of listening to other people’s so as to attain set goals, objectives and better society.

  He cautioned Christians to admit whenever they are wrong instead of covering up with lies.

 Abegunrin challenged media practitioners to always communicate truthful information that will foster unity and peace in the society

  In his remarks, Director of Social Communications, Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, Rev Fr. Anthony Akinwowo espoused that if we do not listen to one another, we will not be sensitive to one another.

  The Catholic Church uses the occasion of World Communication Day to awaken the consciousness of media practitioners to their obligations to the well-being of the society.
