Azubogu grabs APGA ticket for Anambra South Senatorial District

IN preparation of the 2023 general elections, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), yesterday, held primary election for Anambra South Senatorial District at Dr. Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka.

  Aspirants who contested for the election were  Azubugo, Ben Nwankwo, Sir Sullivan Akachukwu Nwankpo and Chief Onodugo Nwachukwu.

 Azubogu, who is a lawmaker representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, scored the highest votes with 116votes  to defeat his counterpart and Member, House of Representatives , Orumba North and South and Federal Constituency  Ben. Nwankwo who scored 113votes.

  Other aspirants were Emma Nwachukwu 75 votes and former governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC),Akachukwu Nwankpo 44 votes.

  The Returning Officer for the Anambra South Senatorial District primary election, Stephen Nwogu therefore declared Azubogu the winner.

Speaking after the election,  Azubogu thanked God for the outcome of the election .

  “To my brothers I contested with,they are all gentlemen capable and competent and I assure them that I will come to them because I can not win the general election without their support. We must make sure that our party wins this election.”

  “Specially, I want to thank Mr Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo as my senior brother who has seriously made sure that things are done in the right way. This is the mark of the beginning of the new things in our place and my assurance to him and everybody is that I will continue to support and work with him for the greater glory of Anambra State,” he said.
