Gunmen kill policemen in Enugu community

GUNMEN have killed two police officers when they attacked Nkpamte community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

  The community is a remote community, just a few kilometers from Igbo-Eze North Local Government Headquarters.

  A resident of the area told newsmen that the ugly incident happened at a Royal Mass Transit Workshop, located in the area, saying that the incident has thrown many residents into fear.

  “Even today, we have been hearing gunshots. Everybody is afraid because you don’t know who is who,” he said.

  Enugu State Police Command has also confirmed the deaths of the two gallant officers who died from bullet wound injuries sustained after a gunfight with yet-to-be-identified gunmen in an Enugu community.

  This was contained in a statement made available by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu.

  “At about 12 noon of June 2, 2022, yet-to-be-identified gunmen attacked and fatally wounded two policemen, at Nkpamte community of Igbo-Eze North LGA, after a gunfight.

  “The police officers were immediately moved to the hospital, but were unfortunately confirmed dead by doctors on duty,” he said.

  ASP Ndukwe, said that investigation and manhunt of the criminal elements had commenced.

  “The command will further communicate development on the matter.”
