More Catholics express joy over Papal elevation of Bishop Okpalaeke

BISHOP Peter Okpalaeke’s elevation into the College of Cardinals has been described as a good omen for the Catholic Church worldwide.

  The traditional prime minister of Ebenebe, Joe Nwegwu gave the indication while reacting to his enlistment in the college of cardinal by Pope Francis.

  Joining the likes of Governor Charles Soludo in felicitations with the incumbent Bishop of Ekwulobia Catholic Diocese, Chief Nwegwu viewed his elevation as former rejected stone which has now become a cornerstone.

  Believing that the unity of the church and obedience are paramount, the traditional prime minister described the prelate as faithful and obedient and expressed joy in associating with him.

  Chief Nwegwu recalled the role Bishop Okpaleke played in 2009 when as a pilgrim in Jerusalem, the then father Peter Okpaleke was the head of Catholic Priests of the Emmanuel tours who officiated in their daily masses.

  On his part, a knight of St Mulumba of the Roman Catholic Church and Awka based legal expert of 35 years standing, Fidelis Anyanegbu described the elevation of Bishop Okpaleke as a product of patience, wisdom, perseverance, hard work and faith in God.

  Anyanegbu noted that God’s manifestation in Okpaleke’s life is an indication that he works gently and silently.

  The legal luminary urged the prelate not to relent in his priestly duties.
