Anambra urges Umuona monarch to end crisis in community

ANAMBRA State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Collins Nwabunwanne has directed the traditional ruler of Umuona to end the crisis in the community.

  The commissioner  gave the directive during a reconciliatory meeting with the traditional ruler of Umuona, Igwe Humphrey Ejesieme , the president General of the town, Chief Kenneth Okoli and other executives  at the Government House Awka.

  Commissioner Nwabunwanne who harped on the need for the the traditional ruler and president general to initiate another peace move, reminded the parties present that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is totally committed to  achieving lasting peace, promote and protect human rights in all communities in the state.

  He appealed to the duo to jointly build a community with shared future for human beings as  war or conflicts does no one any good.

  Commissioner Nwabunwanne also urged the president general to always work with the traditional ruler for peace and progress of Umuona community.

  He appealed to the traditional ruler to lift the sanctions, as well as huge  fines levelled  against some sons and daughters of the town  and reabsorb them back into his kingdom while he promised to study the constitutions of the town careful for interest of peace.

  Commissioner Nwabunwanne, who reminded them to shun inflammatory and  derogatory words, as well as physical attacks on individuals also announced that Igwe Humphrey will conduct the meeting for  peace at the Umuona Civic Center to enable him address his subjects as the royal father and as well, forgive their shortcomings while they in turn forgive his own shortcomings too for the peace progress and stability of the town.

  He  warned that government will not hesitate to use desired means to punish the faction that would go against the peace move.

  The president General of Umuona town,  Chief Kenneth Okoli ,  who recounted how the conflicts started in Umuona ,agreed also that  peace will reign and commended Commissioner Nwabunwanne for insisting that no one has right to remove any elected president general from office under his watch.

  Responding, the Former Chairman, Aguata Council Area,Dr Anthony Okoli , Mr Samuel Okolonmike ,Rev Prof.  James  Nnoruga,Nze Fabian Ezeofor and Chief Emeka Adilieje,  among others, appreciated the efforts of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Commissioner  Nwabunwanne for championing the cause of peace in Umuona community, while praying God to bless and rewards them abundantly.

  The permanent secretary of the ministry, Pauline Nwandu and the ASATU President, Titus Akpudo were among dignitaries that attended the meeting.
